Light Dork.
I'm so happy.
On my way home today I stopped and bought a lamp. No big thing, a $90 Pier One lamp. This is my first purchase in about 10 years that is for my home that I could buy because I love it, without consulting with someone. It is a big bulbous silver lamp with a drum shade; it looks perfect on top of my mother's old Stickley bookcase.
Out with the old! In with the new!
Let's hope the trip to the grocery store goes as well.
Juice boxes for all!

Isn't it fun? I've bought several new things in the past few months, and I'm planning on repainting several rooms, and getting some new window coverings, all kinds of things I get to pick out. It feels good!
Yes . . . the real Wry is beginning to emerge. Good for you, sweetie. Buy something else.
Nothing says "MY place" like redecorating.

Oh yeah, I love going to the store and getting what I want and not having to endlessly debate its merits to the nth degree!! Yeah baby! Freedom smells so good.
You should post a photo of the lamp.

My wife and I have separate rooms in which our rule is unchallenged. There are few joys greater than buying a totally tacky piece of furniture just because you love it.
Yeah! That's an excellent idea. You should post a picture of your breasts
THE LAMP!!!
I meant to say the lamp!
The day I sat back and realized "For the first time in my entire life, my living room has everything in it that *I* picked out - and love!" was the day I realized I was 38 years old and finally happy.
Congrats on new lamp! (I found my seriously awesome furniture on craigslist one piece at a time.)
I discovered your blog weeks ago, but hadn't had a chance to check it out in depth. I finally got that chance tonight. I'm digging it!
